Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Briefed. mobile app and website (the "Service"), operated by Briefed. ("we," "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What the Service is
Briefed. is a news aggregator. We collect headlines from public news feeds, generate short original summaries of them (approximately 60 words) using automated tools, and link every story to the publisher's original article. We also display sports scores, standings, and financial market data sourced from third-party providers. The full text of news articles is not hosted by Briefed. — to read a complete article, you follow the link to the publisher's own site.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. You may browse without an account; creating one lets you save stories and sync preferences across devices. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. You must provide accurate information and may not impersonate anyone.
3. Third-party content and intellectual property
News headlines, articles, photographs, and related content belong to their respective publishers and rights holders. Briefed. displays brief, independently written summaries with attribution and links to the original source. Trademarks, publication names, and logos appearing in the Service belong to their respective owners; their appearance does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement of Briefed.
The Briefed. name, logo, app design, and software are our property. You may not copy, scrape, resell, or redistribute the Service or its content compilations without our permission.
Summaries are generated automatically. They are provided for convenience and may contain errors — always refer to the original article for the authoritative version of a story.
4. Copyright complaints
We respect the intellectual property rights of publishers and content owners. If you believe content available through the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to briefednewsdev@gmail.com with the subject line "Copyright Notice" including:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed;
- Identification of the material you want removed, with enough detail for us to locate it (a link or screenshot of the story in the app);
- Your name, mailing address, email address, and phone number;
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner;
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We review complete notices promptly and remove or disable access to material we determine to be infringing. We may also remove any source from our aggregation pipeline at a publisher's request.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Access the Service by automated means (scraping, bulk downloading) or republish its content compilations;
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, probe or test its security, or attempt to access accounts or data belonging to others;
- Use the Service in violation of any applicable law.
6. Not professional advice
Content in the Service — including news summaries, sports data, and stock market information — is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not financial, investment, legal, medical, or other professional advice. Market data may be delayed or inaccurate. Do not make investment decisions based on information in the Service.
7. Availability and changes
The Service is provided free of charge and we may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time. We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced in the app, and the effective date above will be updated. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
8. Termination
You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections 3, 4, and 9–12 survive termination.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT CONTENT (INCLUDING AUTOMATED SUMMARIES) WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BRIEFED. AND ITS OPERATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Briefed. and its operator from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Service.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Massachusetts, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
